After liberation of the areas in the north of Ninawa governorate, including Zummar and Rabiaa cities, many of the people who were displaced by the war returned back to their regions, and others near the front lines moved to the newly liberated more secure areas.
Those returnees and IDPs are in urgent need for health and medical services. The centers of the big cities were provided with a good health support, but many of the sub districts and villages were left un served.
Primary health services are priority and special attention is paid to high-risk groups such as mothers and children for the community health houses projects, Heevie chose adequate number of expert nurses and trained them in direct cooperation with directory of Heath. This includes establishing and rehabilitating Community Health Houses in these villages and providing them with expert health staff and sufficient amount of medications to allow easier access to health services for its population.
Heevie organization is providing on the site curative health services in the liberated areas of Ninewa which includes 14 villages: Masaka, Kalhe, Shebana, Ein Owaiz, Ein Jheshiya, Talmoos, Hamad Agha, Iseka, Aliyouka, Um AlRabiaain, Ali Abar, Che Khire, Sahal Hamad and Tal Khidher villages in Zummar and Rabiaa in Talaafar District, register their health data and report it to the DOH-Duhok and WHO according to below TOR:
Technical duties and responsibilities for Nurses:
Heevie Community Health Houses consists of 14 Nurses in addition to Guard & Cleaner staff.
Providing physical examination for the patients.
Register the individual health data.
Describes treatment to the patient by indicating the diagnosis in their cards.
Provide prescribed medicines to patient.
Respond to the emergency calls.
Register and follow up any communicable diseases with special focus on diarrheal disease as part of EWARN system.
Provide onsite health education to the IDPs and returnees families at the location with focus on appropriate personal hygiene practices and diarrheal diseases prevention messages.
Organize the patients according to their needs.
To assist in collecting relevant information from patient.
Basic physical observation by measuring vital signs.
Provide nursing care.
Provide counseling and health education.
Follow the rules and principles of infection.
Challenges and Follow up
During the period of project implementation, Heevie tried to deal with all the challenges obstacles that rose to the surface every now and then especially after the operations for liberating Mosul city were started. As it was expected, Heevie CHH played a great role in encouraging more people to return back to the targeted locations, this lead also in increasing in the number of beneficiaries.
Heevie also continued to search for new resources for supporting its activities within Community Health Houses, in this field, Heevie provided the project with a mobile medical team supported with GPs to visit all the targeted locations in a regular matter to respond better to the increasing needs of the project beneficiaries.
Heevie performed a systematic follow up for the clinic activities through its reporting system involving the narrative and progression reports provided by the project manager and the logistic teams.
Actions performance:
Heevie Community Health Houses covers 14 villages in Ninewa governorate in Zummar and Rabiaa districts/ Talaafar / Ninewa): Masaka, Kalhe , Shebana, Ein Owaiz, Ein Jheshiya, Tal Musa, Hamad Agha, Iseka, Aliyouka , Um Al Rabiaain, Ali Abar , Che Khire, Sahel Hamad, and Tal Khidher villages. In addition to the above mentioned services, the following actions were performed:
