Project: Community Health Houses

Lack of health facilities in the majority of villages and small towns deprived the community from the minimum coverage by the primary health care services.

The inadequate financial resources and shortage of the medical staff and non availability of medications and medical equipment are of the main reason behind this.

Heevie started a wide assessment process for the region aiming to build up a strong skeleton of health facilities being able to fill the existing gap in the health service provision in the region. Here came the idea of establishing the “Community Health Houses”. The project was started by putting prefab buildings and doing the necessary rehabilitation and renovation of others in more than 16 villages in Ninewa governorate.

The next step of the project was recruiting the medical staff and procuring the necessary medication and medical equipment and supplies for these facilities. The staff is selected mostly from the same locations after the necessary training was performed.

The project of Community Health Houses is implemented by the support of WHO and in coordination with DOH Duhok. By now it is serving more than 32,000 populations in 18 villages and towns, during the years 2017, about 50,725 patients have received the treatment within the project.

Heevie organization has provided on the site curative health services in 18 villagesduring 2017, including: Masaka, Kalhe, Shebana, Ein Owaiz, Ein Jheshiya, Talmoos, Hamad Agha, Aliyouka, Um AlRabiaain, Che Khire, Sahal Hamad, Tal Khidher,  Ali Abar, Kubane, Derstone, Tal Adas, Badrike and Khursabad villages Mosul, Talaafar and Tilkef Districts.
