Heevie Organization, as a national independent non-profit organization, aims to help and support the vulnerable populations
from both genders and all age groups who are exposed to disasters, conflicts and crises in different areas and to establish and
develop projects in the field of health and community which increase the welfare and preserve the mental and physical
wellbeing. Heevie aims to provide the requirements and needs for developing and improving the health care services in
coordination with the local and governmental authorities or with the foreign organizations and agencies in the field of helping,
reconstructing and humanitarian activities.
The health system in Kurdistan Region specifically and in Iraq generally, has been through multiple difficulties as a result of
the successive wars and conflicts along with the financial crises in the region, issues that rendered the health authorities unable
to provide the needed services in the optimum way. The situation was further deteriorated with the increasing needs of
thousands IDP and refugee families distributed over multiple camp and non-camp locations. The new situation made it
necessary for all the efforts to be brought together order to fill the available gaps in the health care system and to assure the
provision and access to the health care services for all the vulnerable populations.
As a local organization, and with the available resources and with the valuable support of the donors, Heevie continued
implementing multiple activities in the different crises affected regions in Iraq and KRI, these activities and projects covered
the below mentioned fields:
1- Providing the specialized services on the tertiary health care level, this include supporting the providing the management
for the children with congenital heart diseases in coordination with the Italian partners, hospitals and specialized centers.
2- Registering and documentation of the patients with congenital heart diseases
3- Establishing, renovation and rehabilitation of the health care facilities, involving primary, secondary and tertiary levels
4- Capacity building and training of the medical and health staff and supporting MOH facilities
5- Supporting the providing the primary health care services for the vulnerable populations and groups from IDPs, returnees
and host communities in the different and non-camp locations.
6- Providing specialized medical services for specific groups of vulnerable populations, like the Physical Rehabilitation
services, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services and Reproductive Health Services.
